Safeguarding Policy

At J.C. Tutoring, the safety and wellbeing of every child we work with is our top priority. Whether tuition is delivered in-person or online, we are fully committed to safeguarding children and promoting a safe, respectful learning environment.

Our Commitment

We follow the latest government guidance, including:

  • Keeping Children Safe in Education (2024)
  • Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023)
  • Children Act 1989 & 2004
  • Prevent Duty Guidance
  • UK GDPR & Data Protection Act 2018

All of our tutors are trained in safeguarding and child protection and hold enhanced DBS checks.

What Safeguarding Means to Us

Safeguarding the responsibility of everyone, it is about more than just protection—it's about creating an environment where children feel safe, supported, and listened to.

This includes:

  • Preventing abuse and neglect
  • Promoting emotional wellbeing
  • Ensuring safe online learning
  • Acting quickly if concerns arise

Our Safeguarding Measures

  • DBS Checks: All tutors undergo enhanced DBS checks and provide references before working with any student.
  • Code of Conduct: Tutors maintain professional boundaries at all times, both in person and online and are bound by the teaching standards.
  • Online Safety: Sessions are delivered using secure, approved platforms. Parents/carers are encouraged to be aware of when and how their child is engaging in tuition.

Recognising and Responding to Concerns

Our tutors are trained to recognise the signs of:

  • Physical, emotional or sexual abuse
  • Neglect or exploitation
  • Online grooming or radicalisation

If a tutor has a concern or a child discloses something worrying, we act immediately and follow the correct procedures, including contacting safeguarding authorities if necessary.
